LIGHT OF THE WORLD

John 8:12

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

What a promise for every believer. The Light of the world lives in us. He lives in you and He lives in me. This is what we want for all people. The lost, the broken, the abandoned, the abused, the neglected, the disregarded. We are all broken people, created by The Maker of all that is seen unseen. Created in His image. Created for relationship with the King of Kings. We need His Light.

Each week as I share this Light with these severely broken young women, I am often overwhelmed by the darkness. This darkness is so heavy. Words cannot describe how dark and heavy each woman’s story is, and to be honest it feels hopeless.

As Ephesians 5:14 says, and I will paraphrase…We want these young women to wake up and rise from the dead, so that Christ can shine in them and through them. It is more than what we see, it is more than what we feel. Even in the darkness we have to share the hope. In Psalm 147:11 we are reminded of this truth. “the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.

My prayer is that each young man and young woman at the JDC would come to know His unfailing love. Pray that each one will come to know and believe in the “hope of His unfailing love.” Even in the darkness the Light of this truth will take hold and will overcome the darkness. This goes beyond the circumstances, the feelings and the pain. It is the truth and it is the only thing that will set them free, just like it set us free!

  1. I know what you are saying Beth.
What an honor and privilege it is to sit across from God’s babes, to be the vessel He uses to bring His Light into the darkness. To have one young man come in a week ago, very angry with God, not wanting anything to do with Him, to having him come back this week with a huge smile on his face, and lotsa questions because he “got it!”
I am so blessed to be a vessel used by God thru Stateline Youth for Christ -JJM.
Matt. 18:14 says, “Its not My Father’s will that any of His little ones should fall.” And on this I stand!
